Bleed Out: An Ashen Stars Campaign
Improvisational Rules
In an “improv” session (once per season, developed from a “Hot Contract”), the following additional rules apply.
- The episode may go no longer than one session. The mystery must wrap up by the end of the game session.
- Players may spend two Investigative Ability points (from a single Ability) to introduce a helpful NPC related in some way to that ability. That player is responsible for declaring how the NPC is helpful in the given situation, as well as describing the NPC and playing it: the NPC may continue on throughout the adventure, but they’re only substantially helpful in one scene.
- Players may spend two Investigative Ability points (from a single Ability) to describe what they think is going on based upon the evidence gathered so far, and declare one element of their description canon. If the GM knows what’s going on and finds the player’s declaration incompatible with those events, the GM may veto (and the player either picks a different element or the points are unspent).
